Dare. This is the verb for summer-winter 2017/18, the only rule where the rules are tight and they subvert, they break. Because fashion wants to cross over the borders, or better yet, blur them, make them liquid, because what seemed like two opposites are found to be similar and they slide smoothly into one another, so much that even male and female no longer seem to be in opposition.
There is a desire for new milestones, dictated by the new sensitivities. Colours are regarded with a sense of vagueness and light and smoky shades are chosen, mutually diluting one another, veiling and transparencies, the overlapping; dim atmospheres and darkness are sought, but to be ignited by strokes of light.
There is no fear of imperfection in a world where there is no right and wrong, but everything takes on value in its own individuality.
Dare. Dare with joy, your own courage, your own emotions, your own eccentricity, whatever makes us unique and, therefore, extraordinary. Irony, dark taste and romanticism can be mixed, as long as the effect is surprising. So materials are chosen that amplify the brightness and exaggerate the decorations and workmanship to make us shine like unique works of art. But without taking ourselves too seriously, make no mistake. And so we have the contrasts, the romantic laces, the floral and animal designs.
Dare. To be yourself, above all. Always. Or at least for this season.
